Face Lift

As part of the ageing process skin progressively loses its elasticity and muscles tend to slacken. The stresses of daily life, effects of gravity and exposure to sun can be seen on the face. The rate at which this happens varies from one person to another and is probably determined by genes. Many people feel frustrated that the face they see in the mirror is not the one they feel should be there. Substantial weight loss can produce similar changes in facial appearance to those of the ageing process.

The result of a facelift

It should not be obvious that you have had a facelift, but you should look younger, more vital and cheerful. A facelift is a procedure that usually works well technically and also increases morale.

What a facelift does not do?

A facelift works better for the lower half of the face and particularly the jaw line and neck. If you have sagging eyebrows and wrinkles of the forehead then you should perhaps consider a brow lift. Loose skin with fine wrinkles, freckles and rough areas will benefit more from a chemical peel combined with dermal fillers or the use of BOTOX®. Minimally invasive techniques using a Silhouette thread-lift procedure or a One Stitch Lift (OSL) may be useful in selected cases. Mr Humzah Consultant Plastic Surgeon will advise you on which procedure is suitable for you. Humzah, Consultant Plastic Surgeon is an advanced trainer for the Silhouette Thread Lift.

How long does a facelift last?

A facelift does not stop the clock, but it does put the clock back. The effect of the facelift is likely to always be there, in that you will not look as old as you would have done if it had not been carried out. Once you have recovered from this plastic surgical procedure, it may be advisable for you to review your skin care programme.

Who is a candidate for a facelift?

The best candidate is one whose face and neck has begun to sag, but whose skin still has some elasticity and whose bone structure is strong and well defined. Most patients are in their 40's to 60's, but facelifts can be done successfully on people in their 70's or 80's.

How much does a facelift cost?

The fee for this plastic surgery procedure is a guide; variations do exist between hospitals and fees will be individually calculated for you after your consultation.

Guide Price:  From £ 4,900.00

The fee quoted will cover costs related to your total care (pre-operative assessments, accommodation, medications, routine investigations), theatre, surgeon and anaesthetic fees. It also covers all required post - operative visits and any necessary management of clinical complications. It does not include the initial consultation fee of £100 which will be invoiced separately.

Can any other procedures be performed?

Permalip

A facelift may be combined with many other procedures, e.g. Permalip. This is a permanent contoured implant that is designed exclusively for the lip. Permalip is available on a variety of sizes to accommodate your needs, from a slight accent to full voluptous lips. Although Permalip is permanent it is designed to be easily removed or further enhanced.

The One Stitch Lift (OSL) / Jowl Lift

The One Stitch Face Lift is a different approach to address the changes in facial shape and contour that occurs with ageing. It allows you to have a subtle refreshed and youthful look without having a full facelift. This procedure involves having a local anaesthetic in the minor operating theatre and lasts about 45minutes; following the operation you can go home.

The procedure involves making an incision around the hairline in the sideburn area, leaving a small scar in the hair line on both sides that in many cases will be hidden by the hair. Dissolving sutures are used, so in many cases it is unnecessary to have any sutures removed. In general you should be able to resume normal light activities within 24 hours. You need to be realistic regarding the outcomes as this is in no way equivalent to a facelift. The particular options for you will be discussed during the consultation with Mr Humzah.

The overall result of the One Stitch Lift is a subtle, refreshed and youthful look with a minimal downtime. The results will last in general for 12 – 18 months. However, it is important that you consider a facial rejuvenation / maintenance programme to prolong the results and gain the maximum benefit from the One Stitch Lift.

Guide Price:  From £ 1,700.00

Silhouette Thread Lifts / Softlift

Silhouette Lift is a new face-lift technique that is performed with local anaesthetic in less than 45 minutes as a day case procedure. The immediate recovery enablesyou to go back to normal activities within 2 days and after 2 weeks the face has recovered its soft and natural aspect.

The procedure takes place in 4 stages : Insertion – Deployment – Anchoring – Suspension - Fixation

The threads are inserted through a small-incision in the temporal region. These sutures are made from polypropylene, a biocompatible material with the human body which has been used for many years in cardiovascular and ophthalmic surgery. They are not barbed which avoids any tissue damage and thanks to small re-absorbable cones which anchor themselves in deep tissue, a tension is produced which lifts the sagging tissue.

The fibrosis around the suture produces a much stronger suspension mechanism than traditional methods. The new Silhouette Lift sutures avoid problems of movement, breakage and pain which occur with barbed sutures. Silhouette Lift is ideal for correcting nasolabial folds, expression lines as well as the oval of the face, cheeks and neck.

Facial tiredness is erased, giving you a younger and very natural appearance for many years to come. Silhouette Lift is an efficient technique for both men and women. Recent results show that it is possible to "re-tighten" the threads after 3-5 years.
